Case Study: The Barre Studio Branding & Website


Working with Emma on The Barre Studio’s branding and website was effortless. Emma’s vision took my brief to the next level and the result exceeded all my expectations. Her gentle approach reigned me in when I had 201 ideas flying around and supported me when I was stalling, I trusted her guidance that the end result would be beautiful.

Overview

The Barre Studio is a Sydney based fitness studio. It offers a boutique style approach to class fitness. The barre method is at the forefront of the fitness industry and is seen as an elite fitness class. 

Business owner Donna had been using an existing logo that was designed by an online logo design service. It didn't serve to reinforce the quality of the classes and training that her business provides her clientele with.

Step one: The logo

After discussions about Donna's personal taste and her competitors, I was able to work towards a branding solution that better conveyed the essence of The Barre Studio brand.

As with all my identity projects, I presented Donna with 3 initial options for her new logo. At this stage it was my aim to show her three different visual outcomes to show her the range of possibility.

From there I refined the chosen direction until we had a logo and colour palette we were ready to use across the brand as a whole.


Step two: The brand

Once the basis of the logo was decided upon, I fleshed out the thinking to cover the typography, photographic style, colour palette and supporting graphics. 

We knew that we wanted to grab attention so bright colours, sexy images and lots of humourous 'Barre' puns were added to the brand formula.


Step three: The Website

A contemporary website that worked across mobile and desktop was of upmost importance. Donna needed to be able to maintain the site herself so we chose to set it up using an easy to use CMS system. 

We used imagery and supporting graphics to great effect while incorporating essential functionality such as a live class schedule and an events calendar.

Step four: Printed collateral

To round out the identity, I created some printed promotional material. A postcard and free passes were produced.

Of course, the 'Barre' jokes featured on these too as well as the bright colour palette and minimalist layout.
